The SKL 21 Rail Tension Clamp is part of the Vossloh SKL fastening system. This tension clamp is commonly used for securing rails to concrete or timber ties in railway track systems. The SKL 21 design provides optimal force distribution to ensure secure rail fastening, with the main advantage being its robust design for heavy-duty applications, such as high-speed rail or heavy freight transport.

Key Features and Specifications

The SKL 21 tension clamp is designed to offer excellent rail creep resistance and protection against rail tilting, ensuring a maintenance-free system. 

• Application: Suitable for conventional rail (≤ 250 km/h) and high-speed lines (≥ 250 km/h), as part of the W 21 fastening system.

• Material: Typically manufactured from high-grade spring steel, such as 60Si2CrA or 38Si7, to ensure high tensile strength and elasticity.

• Performance:

    a. Toe load (nominal): Approximately 10 kN.

    b. Spring deflection: Approximately 14.5 mm, allowing the clip to remain in contact with the rail foot under dynamic loads.

    c. Vertical fatigue strength: 2.5 mm, ensuring long life under repeated stress.

    d. Rail creep resistance: ≥ 9 kN.

    e. Axle load: Maximum of 26 tonnes.

• Corrosion Protection: Available with high-grade corrosion protection systems like Vossloh protect C5-L for extreme environmental conditions.

• Screw Spike (e.g., Ss 35/Uls 7): Secures the assembly to the sleeper.

• Angled Guide Plate (e.g., Wfp-14K12): Provides lateral rail guidance and helps with gauge adjustment.

• Plastic Dowel: Inserted into the concrete sleeper to provide a secure anchor for the screw spike.

• Rail Pad: An elastic pad made from materials like cellentic elastomer, placed between the rail and the sleeper to absorb vertical forces and reduce vibration.
