UIC60 Ribbed Base Plates 

UIC60 (60E1) ribbed base plates are heavy-duty track components specifically designed for UIC60 rails, which weigh approximately 60.21 kg/m. These plates are engineered to handle the significantly higher axle loads and speeds common in mainline and high-speed railway networks.

Key Features & Differences from S49

• Larger Dimensions: As the UIC60 rail base is wider (150 mm) than the S49 (125 mm), these base plates are physically larger and thicker (typically 18 mm) to disperse higher compressive stresses.

• Enhanced Load Capacity: Designed for heavy-haul and high-speed rail, they feature robust structural integrity to withstand extreme dynamic forces and vibrations.

• Shoulder Design: Usually feature double shoulders to provide superior lateral restraint and maintain precise gauge under the high lateral forces of heavy trains.

• Inclination: They standardly provide a 1:40 or 1:20 inward inclination (cant) to optimize the wheel-rail interface.

Material & Manufacturing

• Materials: High-strength ductile iron (e.g., QT500-7) or cast steel (e.g., ZG25, ZG35) is often used to ensure durability against fatigue.

• Fastening Compatibility: Frequently paired with e-Clip or SKL (KPO) fastening systems, which offer high preload forces (25–30 kN) for maximum stability.

• Damping: For UIC60 lines, they are often used with composite polyurethane rail pads (8–10 mm) to further reduce noise and vibration.
